Millennium Mine
Peabody Energy's Millennium surface mine has access to one of the world's premier coking coal reserves in Queensland's Bowen Basin. Coal from Millennium possesses a higher percentage of vitrinite, a mineral which contributes to a higher quality steel. The truck-and-shovel operation is ramping up to produce up to 3 million tons (2.7 million tonnes) of low-ash coking and low- to mid-volatile PCI (pulverized coal injection) product by 2010. The companion Millennium Preparation Plant can create sized coals within plus or minus 20 millimeters for niche international markets. Millennium exports products via the Darlymple Bay Terminal primarily to customers in India.

Burton Mine Burton
High-Btu, environmentally superior coal from Burton surface mine powers utilities and supplies steelmakers across three continents. Located in Queensland's northern Bowen Basin, the Burton Mine is a surface mine using the truck-and-shovel terrace mining technique to produce up to 3 million tons (2.7 million tonnes) of coal. Burton's coking coal is internationally known for its excellent coking properties and for some of the lowest sulfur and ash content of any Australian coking coal. The mine also offers a low-sulfur, low-nitrogen, high-Btu thermal coal with high ash-fusion temperatures, enabling it to be easily pulverized. Another semi-soft product from the mine can be used either as a coking blend component or to create PCI (pulverized coal injection) coal. The mine exports through the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.

North Goonyella/Eaglefield Complex North Goonyella Mine
The North Goonyella underground and Eaglefield surface mines produce some of the world's best hard coking coal from the northern rim of Queensland's Bowen Basin, a region renowned globally for high quality reserves. The combined operations have an estimated annual production capacity of 5 million tons (4.5 million tonnes).

Located 100 miles west of Mackay, Queensland, the North Goonyella Mine is an underground operation that uses longwall mining technology to produce premium high-strength coking coal from the Goonyella middle seam. Situated on the same mining lease, Eaglefield surface mine is a truck-and-shovel operation that shares North Goonyella's infrastructure and mines the Goonyella middle and lower seams.

Coal from the Complex is exported through the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal to a diverse range of steelmakers in Japan, India and Europe.

Baralaba
The Baralaba surface mine has captured a solid share of the Asia seaborne market from its location 117 miles southwest of the Port of Gladstone in the southern Bowen Basin of Queensland. Operating at capacity, the truck-and-shovel operation can annually produce up to 500,000 tons (0.45 million tonnes) of thermal and pulverized coal injection (PCI) coking coal for Japanese steelmakers. The mine exports coal through the Port of Gladstone.

Wilkie Creek
Coal from the Wilkie Creek Mine is known for its superior combustion performance and significant environmental advantages, making it a fuel of choice for power generators in Australia, Asia and South America. Located in the Surat Basin of Southeast Queensland, the surface mine can produce up to 2.8 million tons (2.5 million tonnes) of low-sulfur, low-nitrogen thermal coal using truck-and-shovel methods. The coal is exported through the Port of Brisbane.
