New South Wales Operations

Peabody Energy Australia operates four mine sites in New South Wales. These extend from the Hunter Valley coalfields west of Newcastle to the Southern coalfields south of Sydney.

Wilpinjong Mine is a surface mine located northeast of Mudgee, and produces a high quality thermal coal for both domestic and export markets.

The Wambo Mine Complex is one of Peabody’s largest operating mines and is located in the Hunter Valley, near Singleton. Wambo is a surface operation combined with the North Wambo underground mine.

Peabody’s Metropolitan Mine is an underground operation located in the township of Helensburgh in the southern coalfields.
