Queensland Operations
Peabody has eight mining operations in Queensland. The Burton, North Goonyella, Eaglefield, Millennium, Coppabella, Moorvale and Middlemount mines span the length of the Bowen Basin in northern Queensland. The Wilkie Creek mine operates within the Surat Basin in south-west Queensland.
The Burton Mine is an open-cut mine located 150 kilometers south west of Mackay that produces hard and semi-hard coking and thermal coals for export markets.
The Coppabella Mine is an open-cut mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay that produces low-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal for export markets.
The Eaglefield Mine is an open-cut mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay that produces high quality hard coking coal for export markets.
The Middlemount Mine is an open-cut mine located 90 kilometers north east of Emerald that produces low-volatile PCI coal and semi-hard coking coal used for export markets.
The Millennium Mine is an open-cut mine located 160 kilometers south west of Mackay that produces coking and low to mid-volatile PCI coal for export markets.
The Moorvale Mine is an open-cut mine located 156 kilometers south west of Mackay that produces low-volatile PCI coal, coking coal and thermal coal for export markets.
The North Goonyella Mine is an underground longwall mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay that produces a premium quality, high strength coking coal for export markets.
The Wilkie Creek Mine is an open-cut mine located 250 kilometers west of Brisbane that produces an environmentally superior thermal coal for export markets.
