Middlemount Mine

The Middlemount Mine is an open-cut mine located 90 kilometers north-east of Emerald that produces low-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal and semi-hard coking coal.

Middlemount coal mine produces low-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal and semi-hard coking coal used for export markets.

Peabody has a 50 percent share of the Middlemount Mine through its Peabody Energy Australia PCI subsidiary (formerly Macarthur Coal Limited). The Middlemount Coal project is a joint venture between Gloucester Coal and Peabody with its mining operations carried out on a contractor basis by NRW Holdings Limited.

Mining commenced at Middlemount in 2011 and the project is the first greenfield coal mine developed in the Bowen Basin since 2007.
