Samantha Algaze

Experience

Samantha Algaze is a Portfolio Manager at Elliott Management Corporation where she works on investments spanning multiple industries. She joined Elliott in 2013 after working at H.I.G. Capital in the Private Equity division. Prior to that, she was an analyst in Deutsche Bank's Real Estate, Gaming, Lodging & Leisure Investment Banking Group. Ms. Algaze is also currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Managers of Claire's Holdings LLC.

Education

Ms. Algaze received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Andrea Bertone

Experience

Andrea Bertone is the former President of Duke Energy International. She spent 15 years at Duke Energy, including seven years as President of Duke Energy International with executive responsibility for coal, gas and hydro assets across a number of countries. Prior to her time at Duke Energy, Ms. Bertone was Latin America counsel with Baker & McKenzie. She began her career as an attorney in Sao Paulo, Brazil, including an in-house corporate attorney for TAM Airlines. Other directorships include Yamana Gold, a Canadian listed gold producer, DMC Global Inc. and Amcor plc.



Education

Ms. Bertone earned a Bachelor of Law from the University of Sao Paulo Law School in Brazil and a Master of Law in International and Comparative Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Nicholas Chirekos

Experience

Nicholas Chirekos served in various investment banking roles at J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. from 1987 until his retirement in 2016. He was most recently the Managing Director, North America Head of Mining from 2002 to 2016. Prior to that, he served as the Global Head of Mining and Metals. Mr. Chirekos serves on the Board of Directors for New Gold Inc., as well as the Reiman School of Finance Advisory Board at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. He previously served on the Board of Directors of The Mineral Information Institute.

Education

Mr. Chirekos earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Denver and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.

Stephen Gorman

Experience

Stephen Gorman is the former Chief Executive Officer of Air Methods Corporation. Previously, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Borden Dairy Company from 2014 until his retirement in July 2017. Prior to joining Borden Dairy, he was with Delta Air Lines, Inc. from 2007 to 2014, where he was the Chief Operating Officer. From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Gorman served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Greyhound Lines, Inc. Mr. Gorman was also the Executive Vice President, Operations Support and President, North America for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. from 2001 to 2003. Other directorships include ArcBest Corporation, Grupo Aeroméxico, S. A. B. de C. V. and Bradley University. 

Education

Mr. Gorman earned a Bachelor of Science from Eureka College and a Master of Business Administration from Bradley University.

Glenn Kellow

President and Chief Executive Officer, Peabody

Experience

Glenn Kellow is President and Chief Executive Officer of Peabody. He was named CEO-elect and joined the company's board of directors in January 2015 and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2015.

Mr. Kellow has extensive experience in the global resource industry. Over a 28-year career with BHP Billiton, he held multiple leadership posts on three continents. He served as president of the multinational aluminum and nickel business with operations in South Africa, Australia, Mozambique and Colombia. Mr. Kellow has held a number of executive, operating and financial positions in the coal, copper, base metals, steel and petroleum sectors in the United States, Australia and Chile.

Mr. Kellow serves as chairman of the World Coal Association and vice chairman of the International Energy Agency’s Coal Industry Advisory Board. He is also a director and executive committee member of the U.S. National Mining Association. Mr. Kellow is the former Chairman of Worsley Alumina in Australia, Chairman of Mozal in Mozambique and Chairman of the global Nickel Institute. In addition, he is a past member of the executive committee of the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy and the advisory board of the Energy and Mining Institute of the University of Western Australia. 

Education

Mr. Kellow holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Newcastle in Australia. He completed the advanced management program of the Wharton Business School and is a Fellow of CPA Australia. Mr. Kellow was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Science from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and the Alumni Award for International Leadership from the University of Newcastle.

Joe Laymon

Joe Laymon served Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services for Chevron Corporation from 2008 until his retirement in 2017. Prior to joining Chevron, Mr. Laymon worked at Ford Motor Company from 2000 to 2008, where he was the Vice President, Human Resources and later the Group Vice President, Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs. He also served as the Vice President, Human Resources, U.S. and Canada Region for Eastman Kodak Company from 1996 to 2000. Other directorships include Clark Atlanta University, BoardRoomIQ.com, United Way of the Bay Area and Clearwater Paper Corporation.

Mr. Laymon earned a Bachelor of Science from Jackson State University and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Teresa Madden

Experience

Teresa Madden retired from Xcel Energy, Inc. in May 2016, where she was employed from 2003 and served most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2011 to 2016. Prior to joining Xcel Energy, she was the Controller at Rogue Wave Software, Inc. From 1979 to 2000, she was the Controller and Manager at Xcel Energy. She also served as an Executive in Residence at the University of Colorado's Global Energy Management Program during the 2016-2017 school year.  Other directorships include Enbridge Inc. and the Public Education & Business Coalition.

Ms. Madden earned a Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University and a Master of Business Administration from Regis University.

Bob Malone

Non-Executive Chairman
Executive Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, First Sonora Bancshares, Inc. (a privately-held bank holding company)

Experience

Bob Malone currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Peabody Energy Corporation, a position he was appointed to in 2016 following the Company’s emergence from bankruptcy. He joined the pre-bankruptcy board in July 2009.

He was elected Executive Chairman, President and CEO of First Sonora Bancshares, Inc., a privately-held bank holding company, in 2014. He also serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the First National Bank of Sonora, Texas (dba Sonora Bank), a community bank owned by First Sonora Bancshares, Inc., a position he has held since 2014. He joined First Sonora Bancshares and Sonora Bank in October 2009 as President and Chief Executive Officer. He is a retired Executive Vice President of BP plc and the retired Chairman of the Board and President of BP America Inc., at the time the largest producer of oil and natural gas and the second largest gasoline retailer in the United States. He served in that position from 2006 to 2009. Other directorships include Halliburton Company, BP Midstream Partners GP LLC and Teledyne Technologies Incorporated.

Mr. Malone holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Science in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dave Miller

Dave Miller is Equity Partner, Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of U.S. Restructuring for Elliott Management, and a member of the Management Committee. Mr. Miller joined Elliott in 2003 after working in M&A and financing advisory roles at Peter J. Solomon Company. Mr. Miller is also currently a director of Acosta, a leading full-service sales and marketing agency; the Brazilian American Automotive Group, Inc., one of the largest automotive dealership groups in Latin America; and Arconic, a company specializing in lightweight metals engineering and manufacturing.

Mr. Miller received a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University.

Michael Sutherlin

Experience

Michael Sutherlin currently serves on the Peabody Board of Directors.  Mr. Sutherlin served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Joy Global Inc., a mining equipment and services provider from 2006 to 2013. From 2003 to 2006, he served as Executive Vice President of Joy Global Inc. and as President and Chief Operating Officer of its subsidiary, Joy Mining Machinery. Prior to joining Joy Global Inc., Mr. Sutherlin served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Varco International, Inc.

Education

Mr. Sutherlin holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Texas at Austin and Bachelor of Business Administration in Industrial Management from Texas Tech University.

Darren Yeates

Independent Director 
Director and Principal, Yeates Advisory Services Pty Ltd

Experience

Darren Yeates currently serves as a director and principal of Yeates Advisory Services Pty Ltd, a consulting firm he co-founded in November 2016. Mr. Yeates has over 35 years of mining industry experience, most recently as COO of MACH Energy Australia, a developer and supplier of thermal coal to both the Australian domestic and Asian export markets, from May 2018 to December 2019.  He was previously CEO of GVK Hancock Coal from January 2014 until June 2016. Prior to that, Mr. Yeates spent over 22 years with Rio Tinto, including as Acting Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Coal Australia, General Manager Ports and Infrastructure for Pilbara Iron and General Manager Tarong Coal. He began his mining career at BHP in coal operations and metalliferous exploration. Mr. Yeates has served as a director of Emeco Holdings Limited, an Australian mining services company, since April 2017, and WorkPac Pty Ltd, a diversified employment recruiter, since January 2018. He also served as a director at Stanmore Coal Limited, an Australian coal company, from May 2019 until February 2020.  Mr. Yeates is currently CEO of WorkPac in an interim capacity as the Board searches for a permanent CEO. 

Education

Mr. Yeates has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Central Queensland and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. He has an Executive MBA from the Monash Mt Eliza Business School and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
