President and Chief Executive Officer
Glenn Kellow has over three decades of experience in the global resources industry. He joined Peabody in September 2013 as President and Chief Operating Officer. He was named Chief Executive Officer-elect and joined the company’s board of directors in January 2015. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2015.
Mr. Kellow led the turnaround activities, restructuring, and subsequent successful emergence and relisting of the corporation in April 2017. This was done while achieving record safety results and accelerated mine restoration.
Mr. Kellow has a career that gives insights from the miner, competitor fuel and industrial customer perspectives. From 1985 to 2013, he worked for BHP Ltd. in the United States, Australia and South America. Mr. Kellow has held chief executive leadership, operating or financial roles in global businesses in coal, copper, nickel, aluminum, steel, oil and gas.
Mr. Kellow is a strong advocate for the deployment of high-efficiency, low-emissions technologies and the ongoing development of carbon capture utilization and storage. He serves as chairman of the World Coal Association and vice chairman of the International Energy Agency’s Coal Industry Advisory Board. He is also a director and executive committee member of the U.S. National Mining Association. He is a member of the American Australian Business Council and Civic Progress St. Louis.
Mr. Kellow holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He completed the advanced management program of the Wharton Business School and is a fellow of CPA Australia. Mr. Kellow was awarded an honorary doctorate in science from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and the Alumni Award for International Leadership from the University of Newcastle.
A. Verona Dorch
Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Government Affairs and Corporate Secretary
A. Verona Dorch is Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Government Affairs and Corporate Secretary for Peabody. In this role, she has executive responsibility for providing comprehensive legal counsel for Peabody’s business activities and leads the company’s global legal, government affairs and compliance functions.
Ms. Dorch has more than 20 years of legal, governance and government affairs experience counseling diverse global businesses. She previously served as Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary for Harsco Corporation, a leading global industrial services company. She also has experience in corporate and securities law from top-tier law firms and with Sumitomo Chemical Co. following a multi-year secondment in Tokyo, Japan.
Ms. Dorch currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Girls Inc. in St. Louis and the United Way of Greater St. Louis, is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and has been involved in board memberships with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Public School Foundation and YMCA.
Ms. Dorch was named to Black Enterprise Magazine’s 2018 300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America List, the Most Powerful Women in Business 2017 list by Black Enterprise Magazine, and was shortlisted by the Financial Times in 2016 for two honors: Most Innovative Legal Team and Most Innovative General Counsel. She was named among the Most Influential Women in Corporate America by Savoy magazine in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Dartmouth College and Juris Doctor Degree from Harvard Law School.
Executive Vice President – Corporate Services and Chief Commercial Officer
Charles Meintjes is Executive Vice President – Corporate Services and Chief Commercial Officer for Peabody. He has executive responsibility for Sales and Marketing, Corporate Development, Information Technology, Peabody Business Services, Technical Services, and Coal Generation and Emissions Technology.
Mr. Meintjes has extensive senior operational, strategy, continuous improvement and information technology experience with mining companies on three continents. He also has led financial and technical functions, large re-engineering programs, information technology system implementations and large industrial construction projects. Mr. Meintjes joined Peabody in 2007, and most recently served as President – Australia. Other past positions with the company include Acting President – Americas for Peabody, Group Executive of Midwest and Colorado Operations, Senior Vice President of Operations Improvement and Senior Vice President Engineering and Continuous Improvement.
Prior to joining Peabody, Mr. Meintjes served as a consultant to Exxaro Resources Limited in South Africa, and is a former Executive Director and Board Member for Kumba Resources Limited in South Africa. He also served on the boards of two public companies, AST Gijima in South Africa and Ticor Limited in Australia, and was previously a board member for the Minerals Council of Australia and Queensland Resources Council. He has senior management experience in the steel and the aluminum industry with Iscor and Alusaf in South Africa.
Mr. Meintjes holds dual Bachelor of Commerce degrees in accounting from the University of Johannesburg and the University of South Africa. He is a Chartered Accountant in South Africa, and completed the advanced management program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Paul Richard is the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Peabody. He has executive responsibility for Peabody’s global human resources and administrative functions to ensure the organization has the people, skills, capabilities and systems to successfully execute its mission and strategy in alignment with Peabody’s values. Mr. Richard drives the company’s human resources strategy, including talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, leadership and employee development, organizational effectiveness, global and domestic mobility and the hire-to-retire workstream in Peabody Business Services. He is also responsible for global travel, security and corporate office services.
Mr. Richard has more than 30 years of human resources experience and has been instrumental in leading his prior organizations to achieve Great Place to Work and Top Training Organization designations. He spent nearly 15 years as Vice President – Human Resources for Shaw Industries Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. He also served as a human resources leader for 19 years at Ferro Corporation, a global supplier of technology-based manufacturing, including four years as Vice President – Human Resources.
Mr. Richard has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and MBA from Louisiana Tech University.
George J. Schuller Jr.
George J. Schuller Jr. is President – Australia and has executive responsibility for Peabody’s operating platform, which includes overseeing the areas of health and safety, operations, sales and marketing, product delivery and support functions.
Mr. Schuller has more than three decades of experience with Peabody in senior management roles in both surface and underground operations in the United States and Australia, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer for Australia, a position that he held for nearly four years. His experience also includes global roles in Continuous Improvement and Technical Services.
Mr. Schuller is a board member of the Minerals Council of Australia and Queensland Resources Council. He is also chair of the COAL21 Fund’s ACA Low Emissions Technologies Ltd.
Mr. Schuller has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Mining from West Virginia University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Charleston. He also holds an honorary doctorate in engineering from West Virginia University.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Amy Schwetz is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Peabody. She was promoted to the position in July 2015. She has executive responsibility for the company's financial and accounting functions, including treasury, insurance, risk management, accounting, financial reporting, tax, forecasting, capital management and budgeting, as well as investor relations and communications.
Ms. Schwetz’s financial career spans two decades, including more than 10 years at Peabody with experience in finance, internal audit, investor relations, financial planning and treasury. She has held domestic and international operational posts, where she helped guide platforms in major repositioning initiatives that have improved productivity and lowered costs. Ms. Schwetz served as Peabody Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration – Australia; Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration – Americas; Vice President of Investor Relations; Vice President of Capital and Financial Planning; Director of Financial Planning; and Director of Compliance and Accounting Policies. She joined Peabody from major accounting firm Ernst and Young where she held multiple audit roles over eight years.
Ms. Schwetz is a member of the Dean’s Council at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and serves on the board of Downtown STL, Inc.
Ms. Schwetz is a prior winner of the St. Louis Business Journal “40 Under 40” Recognition. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Indiana University.
Kemal Williamson is President – Americas for Peabody. He has executive responsibility for the company’s U.S. operating platform. He oversees the areas of health and safety; operations; product delivery; and support functions.
Mr. Williamson brings more than 30 years of experience in mining engineering and operations roles across North America and Australia. He most recently was Group Executive of Operations for Peabody Australia. He also has held executive leadership roles across a number of project development areas, as well as positions overseeing the company’s Western U.S., Powder River Basin and Midwest operations. He joined the company in 2000 as Director of Land Management.
Prior to Peabody, he served two years at Cyprus Australia Coal Corporation as Director of Operations and managed coal operations in Australia for half a decade. He has mining engineering, financial analyst and management experience across Colorado, Kentucky and Illinois.
Mr. Williamson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering from Pennsylvania State University as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
