Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro Visits Peabody's Wambo Mine
Coal’s Essential Role
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional New South Wales (NSW) John Barilaro recently visited Peabody's Wambo Mine to experience one of NSW's most essential industries in person.
"My priority is to make sure New South Wales becomes a place of business, and we are open for business when it comes to mining," he said during the visit.
Barilaro, who toured the mine including underground operations and the preparation plant, recognized Peabody's efforts to recruit a diverse workforce. He noted 40 percent of Peabody's recently hired open-cut operators in Australia are women.
"Thank you to Peabody for having me here today, opening up the mine and allowing me to experience firsthand what is an important business in this region," Barilaro said.
