The U.S. Administration has repeatedly demonstrated that it views coal to be an essential part of the U.S. energy mix, and recognizes the importance of affordable and reliable electricity.
Peabody's President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Kellow has offered a high-level path forward to help preserve the enormous advantage of coal-based generation for reliability and affordability of our energy supply, calling on industry to embrace a number of foundational elements.
These include implementing a two-year moratorium on plant retirements for reliability, leveling the playing field, establishing a reliability standard, improving coal’s competitiveness, and advancing high-efficiency, low-emissions coal technologies today and carbon capture over time.
